Prophecy of the Three Popes Updated

By Barry Hanratty - Editor “Garabandal Journal”

With the resignation of Benedict XVI the papal prophecy from Garabandal again came under scrutiny.  It states that after Pope John XXII there will be three more popes and then it will be the end of our times but not the end of the world.  According to the prophecy then, the death of the third pope, John Paul II, signalled a line of demarcation, and we are now in and then phase that leads up to the great prophesied events and the end of our times.  For many this is unconvincing since we now have had five popes with the election of Pope Francis.  But there is something we must consider which lends credence to the prophecy and that is the accuracy with which Conchita described the popes after John XXIII.  On the day Bl. Pope John died, Eloisa de la Roza Velard said to Conchita that may be the next pope will not continue the Council.  But Conchita replied emphatically that another pope will continue the Council.  This of course, was Pope Paul VI.  Conchita told Mother Maria Nieves Garcia, M.M.C>, Superior of the school in Burgos which the seer attended in 1966-67, that one of the popes would have a very short reign.  John Paul l reigned for 33 days.  Conchita also told Mother Nieves, “El ultimo Papa antes del final de los tiempos, seria Papa, Papa y muy amante de la Virgen” (the last pope before the end of the times will be Papa, Papa (the second pope of the same name) and a great lover of the Virgin. This clearly refers to Bl. John Paul II.  So, all these fulfilled individual prophecies weigh heavily in favour of the truth of the overall prophecy, to which there is still more.

On the day itself or the day after her last apparition on November 13, 1965, Conchita told Albrecht Weber of Germany, who was in the village at the time, that the pope will go to Moscow.  Since none of the popes so far have done that, it seems that it refers to the present pope.  What we also know is that such a trip will be crucial since the Tribulation will break out immediately afterwards and Conchita has said that these things: Tribulation, Warning and Miracle will come one right after the other.

But how do we go from three more popes to a pope going to Moscow?  The answer is that Conchita did not receive the full revelation all at once.  In December of 1962, she first learned that there would be three more popes but that’s all.  It was only later that she learned a pope would go to Moscow. So what we have is an interval that separates the last pope of one “time” to the first of another (end?) “time” and the threshold of the great prophesied events.  It seems here that Heaven sees “Times” according to the pontiffs.  At Fatima, Our Lady said that the Second World War would begin during the reign of Pope Pius XI.

But what about Benedict XVI, how does he fit in all this?  If Conchita was told about all the above mentioned popes she must know about him as well but has declined to say anything publicly.  Fr Eusebio Garcia de Pesquera, author of She Went In Haste to the Mountain, had in his possession for his book, a lengthy interview Fr Materne Laffineur conducted with Conchita in 1966, but he did not publish everything and said some of it was not for now.  Perhaps it dealt with this subject.

To sum up then, with so much of this papal prophecy already having come true, we believe in the final analysis that the entire prophecy will also prove true even if all the pieces of the puzzle have not yet been put together.  Meanwhile, the overwhelming evidence that the Garabandal events are from God sustains us and there is no reason why we should waver because of a prophecy, that in our estimation, still awaits fulfilment.

The world and the Church need the events predicted at Garabandal.  Present society, especially the West, has lost its moral bearing and for any hope of universal well-being, for the end of abortion, euthanasia, same-sex “marriage” and other anomalies that prevent a society from being healthy, free and at peace, the conscience of the world must be corrected and this is exactly what the Warning predicted at Garabandal promises.

In his book, The Prophets and Our Times (1941), Fr Gerald Culleton says the following: “No human, natural or preternatural agency can destroy the Church or Christian civilisation; when evil becomes unbearable to the individual who trusts God, or to society, God will work a miracle if necessary to overcome it.”

Our world today needs that miracle, the one prophesied at Garabandal.
