Read Commentary 2: Lessons Learned in Promoting Garabandal

The Garabandal Era

     We know now from experience that the enormity of Garabandal, and its true significance, were not really appreciated until recently.

     As in the case of FATIMA, when Our Lady said on July 13, 1917 that "Russia will spread her errors throughout the world . . . various nations will be annihilated. But in the end, my Immaculate Heart will triumph. The Holy Father will consecrate Russia to me and it will be converted, and a time of peace will be conceded to the world . . . ", we did not understand she was alluding to the Communist take-over of the Russian revolution on November 7, 1917, which she anticipated by almost four months.

     Finally, the Collegial Consecration was satisfactorily accomplished in March 1984 by Pope John Paul II. Within five years of the Consecration, the Berlin Wall and the Iron Curtain came tumbling down, followed in quick succession by; a) the total collapse of Communism in eastern Europe and Russia, and b) the momentous collapse of the Soviet Union.

     The Cold War had come to an end. And so ended the FATIMA ERA, i.e. 1917 - 1992, which coincides exactly with the 75 years of Communism in Russia, and its end, i.e. 1917 - 1992. This, surely, is no coincidence.

     We are now in the GARABANDAL ERA. The question arises: Is there a connection between Fatima and Garabandal? The spiritual message inherent in both are almost similar. The temporal messages, especially in regard to Russia and Communism, are also inherent in both. For instance, Fatima predicts and warns of the rise of Communism in Russia, whereas Garabandal promises the conversion of Russia which of course, implies, as a pre-requisite, the demise of Communism. It is clear that Garabandal complements Fatima and continues where Fatima leaves off. Obviously, Garabandal is the logical extension of Fatima.

     The rise and fall of Communism is now an historical fact. History should also record for the whole world that Our Lady of Fatima and Garabandal was the first and only one to anticipate and warn us of the advent and evils of Communism, and to engineer its demise with the aid of a Polish Pope precisely when a Polish Pope was required after almost 2000 years. Poland was the catalyst for the fall! 

     Recent world events have clarified Garabandal even further. Our Lady appeared at Garabandal from 1961 to 1965, the very period which coincided with Vatican Council II. Obviously, she was directing her remarks to the Council. Read carefully her second message given at Garabandal to Conchita on June 18, 1965. Her message in fact warns us that the real threat to the Church is within the Church itself, and no longer Communism. Incredible as it seems, in spite of the clarity of the language, Catholics, perhaps understandably, did not want to blame the hierarchy or themselves, and would prefer to point the finger at the archenemy, Communism. But the Church is a divine institution, and although often mismanaged by men, has endured for 2000 years and will continue to endure against all opposition.

     If one looks at the world today, and especially at what is happening within the Church, which was not apparent during the years 1961 to 1965, one can but wonder at the prescience of Our Lady's Messages at Garabandal.

     It is seriously recommended that you carefully read Our Lady's messages and prophesies appearing on this website because, through the Warning, the Miracle and the Permanent Sign, there is great hope for the future. Garabandal, essentially, is a message of Love and Hope.
